What is the title of your work in progress?
Torn (Bound Trilogy Book Two)
Where did the idea come from for the book?
Torn is the sequel to Bound… I haven’t decided yet how much I can say without giving away book one spoilers. But the idea came partly from my dislike of insta-love in YA romances and a desire to see characters forced to stand on their own and learn who they are before they get their happily ever after. The plot continues a few months after the end of Bound, and sends the main characters (and a new addition) away to continue the task they left off there.
Was that vague enough?
What genre does your book fall under?
Mature YA Fantasy. It’s a bit darker than Bound, and one character deals with some decidedly non-YA issues at the beginning, but we’re leaving it there for now.
What is a one sentence synopsis for your book?
Working on it…
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Self-published. Independent publishing has been a fantastic experience for me so far, and I look forward to seeing what comes next!
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I wrote the first draft of Torn during November and December of 2012. Revised in November/December 2013, but still looked rather sparse. So it’s been over a year and a half, but the poor book was shelved for most of that time while I worked on Bound.
No official release date yet, but I’m aiming for March 2015.
What else about the book might pique the reader’s interest?
Readers should prepare themselves for big surprises, new characters as well as old friends and enemies, bigger adventure, a few darker turns, and a whole lot of fun.
…I’ll come back to this when I figure out that whole spoiler thing. 😉
TORN FAQ (February 2015):
When is it coming out? What’s going on? WHERE IS IT?
It’s available now for pre-order on Amazon! Click here.
Official release date is March 31, 2015
Why is it taking so long?
Kids. Migraines. Snow days. Re-writes. Edits. Life. More migraines. But as I said, I’m on it. No slacking off, I swear! I don’t want to give you anything but my best work. Sometimes that takes a little longer.
Can I see the cover?
Sure!
I want more Kel/Ruby/(insert character here). Will s/he be back?
Guess you’ll have to wait and see…

Will the first chapter of Torn be on this site like Bound’s is, before release date? 😉 or do you do that after?
October 10th, 2014 at 8:52 am
It will be out before release. I’m trying to wait until it’s fully edited, but it’s not easy to be patient!
I have a hard time keeping secrets, and there are some fun ones coming.

Will there be an Audible version of Torn? If so, will it be released the same day as the Kindle version?
February 24th, 2015 at 9:17 am
There will be eventually if I get an offer for the rights. As of right now, Canadian authors can’t use Amazon’s ACX audiobook program. I can work around that, but it takes time. Either way, it will be several months, at least, but I’d like to have one.

I really hope it works out. I own the audible version of Bound, and I love it. The Narrators did an excellent job and the story is one of the most interesting stories I have listened to in months.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it! As I’m not a regular audiobook listener, I have trouble knowing what works for readers in that format. I appreciate the feedback, and hope I’ll have news for you soon! 🙂

Will Torn be available in paperback like Bound?
March 29th, 2015 at 9:00 am
Yes! Unless we run into major issues when I get the proof copy, it should be ready soon after the e-book release.
Even if we do have issues, it will be very soon. 🙂

Please tell me you will be having this on audio book with the same narrators!! I just love both of them and they tell stories so well! So far I love Bound and can’t until I get to Torn.

I’m glad you liked it! I’m a terrible judge of audiobooks myself, so hearing from readers (listeners?) is so helpful.
Whether there’s one for Torn will depend on the company that produced Bound. As a Canadian author I can’t hire people to produce audiobooks through Audible, so I have to wait on an offer. I’ll let everyone know if it happens, for sure!
