Book Review: Daughter of Smoke and Bone
Guys… I just… I can’t even. My brain is broken. This book was FAN-EFFING-TASTIC.
I don’t go into plot in my reviews (click on the link up there for my review, impressions and reactions), but I’m sure other people have if you’re curious. Or you could just read it.
Waiter! Where’s that sequel I ordered?!

That’s very high praise! It sounds interesting.

It is. I gave it 4 stars, and I only give 5 to all-time favourites. It’s not perfect, but any book that leaves me thinking about it after (in a good way) is fine by me. 🙂

I was thinking about buying it, but then it seemed to me like the instaRomance would be the biggest part of the plot, and since I have major issues with that kind of story…
So, True Love On First Sight aside, it seems like the rest of the plot actually does make up for that. And you seem pretty excited about the book, so I guess it’s worth a shot. Thanks for sharing that review :>

You’re welcome. I really enjoyed it, but I’d recommend reading through some other reviews, too. If insta-love bothers you, I assume that paragraph after paragraph about how gorgeous the guy is will bother you, too. I forgot to put that in my review, but it was the other major flaw (for me). I think the romance was my least-favourite part. It’s huge, but the other stuff, for me, definitely more than made up for those sins. 🙂
And I got it from the library… I tend to be harder on books I actually spent money on. 😉

Wow, sounds like I’d better get my butt moving and pick up a copy! I keep hearing all these wonderful things about this book, plus it’s got a great cover…can’t go wrong with a cover like that, right? 😉 I’ll have to short-list it to the top of my TBR pile. I’m really not a fan of insta-love either, except in a few rare cases – maybe this will be one of them. If not, sounds like the rest of the story is good enough to make up for it. Thanks for the review!

That pretty much sums it up. 🙂

Laini Taylor is good, isn’t she? I read this when it first came out. She is an incredible writer.
