ROW80 Update: Not Much to Say Edition

So, it’s been a rough week around here. It’s been difficult for this country, for RCMP members and their families, for the city of Moncton, and in particular for the police and families there.

Anything else that’s happened with me, personally, isn’t really worth mentioning.

Funerals for the three fallen members are on Tuesday. A lot of people are wearing red on that day as a sign of respect and remembrance, and in support of the officers and families there. You don’t have to be Canadian to join in. It’s a small thing, but I think it’s a nice gesture.

Sorry, I still don’t really have anything entertaining to say. Maybe by Wedesday’s update…

ROW80 Update

I’m going to keep this brief for today. This is the first time in a while that “book stuff” has seemed kind of silly and pointless to me. I’ll get my enthusiasm back. It’s just overshadowed at the moment.

I got some tear-inducing (in a very good way) feedback from readers this week, and I’ll share some of that next update. I also had over a dozen typos pointed out to me, so I’m thankful for eagle-eyed readers who spotted those and saved me a bit of embarrassment. Ten people have added Bound to Goodreads, yay! I’m sending the corrected file to my formatter today, so anyone else who signed up for e-book ARCs should have them by the end of the week if all goes well. Depending on my cover artist’s schedule, we might have those paperbacks ready for release day. It’s good news. It’s progress.

I’ve started beta reading a fantastic book for a WIPpeteer and quite love the main character. He’s not likable, really, but he’s clever and has an amusing way of looking at the world. That goes a long way with me… at least for fictional characters. I’m always a little wary of beta reading (in case I don’t like the book and have to fight my way through it), but this one should be a lot of fun.

We’ll party next week, okay?

Your beta reading wouldn’t be the book about a certain man called Driev would it??

So sorry to learn that violence affected your entire community, and, of course, percolates down into how you are feeling and thinking just now. May the coming week be a better one for you all.

I’m so sorry to hear of what happened up there. It saddens me. I wish you and yours all the best. I know things will get better with some time, but I’m still so sorry for your grief.

Take the time you need to start to heal. Use the book release as a distraction from your pain. Dive into beta reading as another distraction. I’m sure you’ll pull through this terrible time.

Heh, another Driev beta reader … 🙂 And sounds like you’ve been getting good feedback of your own!

Sorry to hear about the local shooting. 😦
